Volunteer

Want to become a member?

There are three ways to volunteer:

  1. The Metuchen First Aid Squad Cadet Program — for ages 16-18
  2. The Metuchen First Aid Squad Certified EMT Program — for NJ State Certified EMTs
  3. The Metuchen First Aid Squad Auxiliary — for those not interested in providing pre-hospital care

The Metuchen First Aid Squad Cadet Program:

This program consists of high school students between the ages of 16 and 18, with a grade point average of C or higher. Report cards must be approved by a cadet advisor. Cadets may ride between the hours of 7:00pm and 10:00pm on school nights, and until 11:00pm on Fridays, school breaks, and during the summer.

Cadets will take calls with their duty crew and assist EMTs on most ambulance calls. Cadets are expected to participate in rig checks and take an active interest in learning. Cadets are also expected to attend the general meetings which are held on the third Wednesday of each month.

The Metuchen First Aid Squad Certified EMT Program:

Our adult members participate in the same fashion as our cadets, but with unrestricted riding hours and a few extra responsibilities (such as watching out for the welfare of our cadets). We welcome NJ State Certified EMTs to join us; please contact us for more information. If you’re over 18 and not an EMT, we will still welcome your participation!
